CCTV, a vigilant watcher and a safety vanguard in every corner of the world! It is evolving day by day as it integrates with intelligent and cutting-edge technologies. Without a doubt, CCTV is a convenience of modern civilization used in various fields, from crime prevention and traffic management to national defense. However, due to its nature as a monitor, it has the disadvantage of being difficult for humans to access once installed. This means that risks follow its management and operation, and safety management is emerging as a major issue. In this 12th session of "Park Nam-gu’s Story Issue," we invite Song Mu-sang, CEO of OTS—who is dedicating his heart and soul to developing intelligent CCTV technology in combination with IoT—to hear the stories behind the CCTVs that have become a familiar part of our lives.
CEO Song is a 25-year veteran in this market. He has devoted his entire career to technology development, manufacturing, and construction related to CCTV. He is navigating a survival competition between domestic conglomerates and, internationally, between Japan's technological prowess and China's low-price offensive. He describes himself as someone with exceptional observational skills and a keen eye for global trends. Furthermore, he believes that all businesses are shifting from the secondary industries centered on construction and manufacturing toward the fourth industrial revolution, where IT and new technologies converge to create new value. This talent of his has brought a major turning point to the maintenance issue, which was the Achilles' heel of the CCTV market, and shifted its entire direction.

While CCTV takes responsibility for the safety and well-being of the nation and its citizens in blind spots or dangerous areas, its functional role has faced many restrictions due to situational vulnerabilities. Specifically, while there are no issues with CCTV performance and features thanks to recent technological advancements, factors that hinder functionality, such as foreign substances, occur over time. This necessitates high-altitude work involving significant manpower and equipment as time passes.
Drawing on his industry experience and observational skills, CEO Song did not overlook this reality and realized an idea based on it. A single perspective on how to view objects transformed a simple idea into patents and devices suited for their purpose. Out of the 12 patents OTS holds so far, three originated from this new device called the "Auto-Lift." This serves as proof of its competitiveness.
The Auto-Lift was developed for the efficient maintenance and rapid repair of CCTV cameras installed at high altitudes. It is a product that allows for the maintenance of a 24-hour surveillance system; instead of performing dangerous high-altitude work using lift trucks or ladders to clean lenses or repair cameras, such tasks can be conducted safely on the ground. It is an auxiliary device that elevates the original purpose of CCTV installation.
CEO Song says that anyone could come up with such a simple idea. However, he explains that models born through repeated trials and errors—the details of which are difficult to disclose—cannot be easily matched in terms of performance and stability. His philosophy is that quality and stability are more important than anything else, as they guarantee life and safety. In fact, following a customer-first spirit, there was a case where he replaced all old models at a certain company with new ones at no additional cost.
CEO Song Mu-sang of OTS expressed his determination, stating, "We are currently in the process of applying for international patents, and after verifying our brand awareness and stability in the domestic market, we will soon knock on the doors of the global market."
Presenting his vision and hope for the future, he said, "For the leap into our second act, I am dreaming of a small summit to reach one day. Within a few years, I will surely achieve entry into the Asian markets, including Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as China—where price competition is fierce—and the leading countries in the industry, such as the U.S. and Japan, with our independently developed Auto-Lifts."
